President-elect Donald Trump made waves in the cryptocurrency world on Friday evening by unveiling his very own digital currency, the $TRUMP meme coin. Within hours, the coin achieved a market capitalization exceeding $5 billion, positioning itself as one of the fastest-growing cryptocurrencies of the year.

Trump officially announced $TRUMP as his “signature meme coin” on social media, distinguishing it from other Trump-themed coins already circulating. The coin surged to a peak value of $33.78 on Saturday morning, stabilizing above $27 later in the day, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Its market capitalization now stands at approximately $5.45 billion, with a fully diluted valuation surpassing $27 billion.

A Strategic Launch by the Trump Organization

The official $TRUMP website reports that 80% of the coin is held by Trump Organization affiliate CIC Digital and a jointly owned entity called Fight Fight Fight. This strategic holding underscores Trump’s direct involvement and long-term vision for the cryptocurrency.

Pro-Crypto Policies on the Horizon

The launch of the $TRUMP coin coincides with Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration on Monday. Reports suggest that the President-elect is preparing to issue executive orders focused on bitcoin and the broader crypto industry. These orders are expected to introduce a lighter regulatory approach, which could foster growth and innovation in the sector.

During his campaign, Trump expressed a clear commitment to digital assets, even hinting at the creation of a Bitcoin Strategic Reserve to solidify the United States’ position as a global leader in cryptocurrency adoption.

Bitcoin Near All-Time Highs

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is experiencing its own surge, trading just above $104,000 on Saturday. Following reports of Trump’s impending crypto-focused policies, the price briefly climbed to nearly $106,000 on Friday—just shy of its all-time high.

As of 4 p.m. ET, Bitcoin held steady at $104,767.70, reinforcing the positive sentiment surrounding the cryptocurrency market.
